Red wine vinegar seperti namanya berasal dari red wine atau anggur merah. Dibuat dari red wine yang difermentasi sehingga rasanya sedikit asam. Aroma wangi wine membuat masakan jadi enak. Rasa asam membuat daging menjadi lebih enak dan empuk. Biasa dipakai dalam masakan Mediterania dan Eropa sebagai campuran bahan saus selada atau bumbu perendam. Dijual dalam kemasan botol. Jika tak ada bisa dipakai red winw atau air jeruk lemon dan nipis sebagai penggantinya.
